Suraj Revanna sexual abuse case transferred to CID

The Karnataka government has handed over the case pending against JD(S) MLC Dr. Suraj Revanna to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

R. Hithendra, ADGP (Law and Order), conveyed to the CID and SP, Hassan that Crime No.92/2024 registered at Holenarasipur Rural Police Station in Hassan District has been transferred to the CID for further investigation with immediate effect.

The officer directed Hassan SP to hand over the file to the CID for further investigation. He also suggested that the DGP of the CID should initiate further investigation.

Suraj Revanna, son of former minister HD Revanna, was arrested by police in Hassan in the early hours of Sunday (June 23).

Following a complaint by a 27-year-old youth on June 22, the police took the MLC to CEN Police Station in Hassan for questioning. The interrogation lasted for several hours that night and Mr. Suraj Revanna was later arrested.

Suraj’s father and JD(S) MP HD Revanna termed the allegations against his son a “conspiracy” and said he had faith in God and the judiciary. Suraj’s uncle and Union minister HD Kumaraswamy, however, stayed away and did not comment on the case.

Mr. Suraj Revanna was elected to the Legislative Council by the local bodies of Hassan District in 2022. He is accused of sexually assaulting a man and threatening to kill him.
