Ashanti alert lifted for High Point woman

At the request of the High Point Police Department, the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has lifted an Ashanti Alert for a missing High Point woman.

The center issued the alert for 31-year-old India Palshett Abney on Saturday evening – and deleted it again at around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday – on the grounds that there were indications of physical endangerment, abduction or kidnapping.

Abney is black, has black hair, is 5’6″ tall, and weighs approximately 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black bike shorts, and white sneakers at the corner of Mobile Street and Cliffside Avenue in High Point.

Authorities believe she was dating 32-year-old Evan Rashad Gainey. Authorities say Gainey is 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds.
