Brother of Prejwal Revanna arrested for alleged sexual abuse of man

On Saturday, he was charged with sexually assaulting a party worker a few days earlier. The charges are based on various IPC provisions, including “unnatural offences”.

According to the sources, Suraj was interrogated overnight at the local CEN police station before his arrest.

A 27-year-old man had filed a complaint with the police that Suraj Revanna, the eldest son of Holenarasipura MP HD Revanna, sexually assaulted him on June 16 at his farm in Ghannikada.

The Holenarasipura police registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful deprivation of liberty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) late on Saturday night.

However, Suraj Revanna (37) has strongly denied the allegations. Suraj had also claimed that the man had filed a false complaint against him in order to extort 50 million rupees from him.

On Friday, police registered an extortion case against the JD(S) worker based on a complaint filed by Suraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar.

Shivakumar, a close aide of Suraj Revanna, filed a complaint of extortion against the JD(S) worker and the case was registered with the police on Friday.

It is alleged that Suraj Revanna’s husband initially demanded Rs 5 crore, but the amount was later reduced to Rs 2 crore.

Suraj’s brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is in police custody on charges of sexually harassing several women and was arrested last month after returning from Germany.

Accused of rape and intimidation, Prajwal was arrested on May 31, shortly after his return from Germany, where he had sought refuge after losing his Lok Sabha seat under Hassan.

Both her mother Bhavani and father HD Revanna are out on bail on charges of kidnapping and harboring a person who was allegedly sexually abused by their son Prajwal. PTI
