Man arrested after attempted burglary | News

A Newport man was arrested by police around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 10, after attempting to break into several homes and vehicles in the Northwest 55th Street area of ​​Newport.

Officers with the Newport Police Department responded to the area after receiving a report that a man was observed attempting to break into a residence. While officers were responding to the area, another caller reported seeing a man in his backyard and that he was attempting to enter his home through the back door. The man fled on foot and then attempted to enter a third home in the area, a police news release said. The homeowner said the suspect was unsuccessful in entering the home and left the home on foot. He was last seen walking into the woods near Northeast 57th Street.
