1 dead and 3 injured after wrong-way driver accident

According to Gluckstadt police, one person is dead after a car crash on Interstate 55 in Gluckstadt. At around 5:30 a.m., the Mississippi Department of Transportation reported heavy traffic with all lanes closed. Authorities said there was a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver near the Gluckstadt Road exit. Gluckstadt police said both sides of the interstate had to be closed to allow a rescue helicopter to land. Three other people were also taken to the hospital. The scene has since been cleared.

MADISON, Miss —

According to the Glückstadt police, one person was killed in a car accident on Interstate 55 in Glückstadt.

At around 5:30 a.m., the Mississippi Department of Transportation reported heavy traffic as all lanes were closed.

Authorities said there was a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver near the Glückstadt Road exit.

Glückstadt police said they had to close both sides of the motorway to allow the rescue helicopter to land.

Three other people also had to be taken to hospital.

The crime scene has now been cleared.
