Man arrested after argument at Minute Men Cleaners in Westport

Glenn Leonard, 62, allegedly disagreed with the price he was charged and injured an employee while trying to take several items, police said.

WESTPORT, Conn. – Following an investigation, a Bridgeport man was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree breach of peace following an incident that occurred at Minute Men Cleaners on Riverside Avenue in Westport, according to Westport police.

According to police, the incident occurred at a full-service cleaning and laundry business on March 27 at approximately 5:10 p.m.

The complainant, an employee of the business, claimed there was an altercation with a customer, later identified as 62-year-old Glenn Leonard, police said.

According to police, the employee reported that Leonard allegedly tried to retrieve items from the business but did not agree with the price the business was asking. Police said Leonard allegedly claimed the quoted price was lower than the charged price and began arguing with the employee.

After the employee attempted to break up the argument and put the items back, Leonard allegedly grabbed the items, causing minor injuries to the complainant, police said, noting that Leonard then left the store.

An arrest warrant was issued for Leonard on Monday, he turned himself in to Westport police and was charged there, police said.

According to police, Leonard was released after signing a promise to appear. His court date is May 29 at Stamford Superior Court.
