Man arrested for human smuggling in Splendora

A man who was stopped on the highway was arrested and charged with human smuggling in Splendora.

An officer with the Splendora Police Department stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 59 and FM-2090. When the vehicle was stopped, the officer noticed several people not properly restrained in the vehicle, which prompted further investigation.

After further investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with human smuggling.

Arrest records confirmed the driver was 26-year-old Isaac Mario Lacayo Bermudez.

Officials on the ground contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to take further action on the situation.
