Child dies after incident at Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine

A child died in an incident at Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine on Saturday.

The circumstances of death remain unclear, but park officials say it was not a case of drowning.

“It was a medical incident and he was taken to CHOC Hospital,” a park spokesperson said in a statement. “Further details will be provided as they become available. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.”

Police were called to the scene early Saturday morning along with paramedics from the Orange County Fire Department after receiving emergency calls for medical assistance from the park at 10000 Great Park Boulevard.

“It does not appear that the incident is water related,” police said.
