Hit-and-run on Highway 99 leaves 27-year-old man dead, suspicious vehicle parts found at scene, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday morning on a Houston highway.

Harris County deputies reported responding to a traffic accident in the 10200 block of State Highway 99 at 1:22 a.m.

On site, police said they found a pedestrian on the roadway with no signs of life.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Darrell Thomas Jones. Authorities say he was walking north-south and did not yield to vehicles on the roadway.

Investigators don’t know who hit Jones, but they found parts of the suspect vehicle at the scene.
