Houston Texans’ Kenyon Green shares clip on social media of his ongoing progress

After missing the entire 2023 season, left guard Kenyon Green returned to the Houston Texans practice field on voluntary OTAs. He seemed in good health. Green’s stature improvements have made him look more athletic and stronger off the line of scrimmage.

Green is determined to reestablish himself as the prospect that general manager Nick Caserio drafted in the first round (No. 15 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. After a disappointing start to his career, Green’s determination led him to showcase his progress on social media.

“Kenyon did a really good job of putting himself in position to compete,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “He did a great job throughout the offseason. We know he had surgery last season, so he was fighting, rehabbing. But, when the start of the year hit, he was focused on himself, focused on his body, getting in shape, getting stronger, and it was really good to see him back playing at full health.”

Green’s third season will be vital to his continued development. He started 14 of 15 games as a rookie in 2022. His first year was an injury-plagued season that he battled through, resulting in him allowing 47 pressures, 31 runs, 12 base hits. quarterback and five sacks at left guard. A shoulder injury forced Green to miss the entire 2023 season.

The Texans are proud of Green’s progression and look forward to the third-year guard competing for a starting spot in free agency.

“Once he gets over that hurdle, we can now see how good of a football player Kenyon can be when he’s not struggling and dealing with injuries,” Ryans said. “I’m excited about what’s in store for Kenyon because he’s really worked to give himself a really good chance this year.”
