The mayor of Aiken is under investigation for alleged exploitation of a vulnerable adult

The South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement is investigating Aiken Mayor Teddy Milner, also known as Theodora Ely, after the Aiken Department of Public Safety alerted the agency to allegations of elder abuse.

“SLED was asked on (Feb. 29) by Aiken Department of Public Safety Director Charles Barranco to investigate allegations of exploitation of a vulnerable adult by Theodora Ely,” said Ryan Alphin, SLED executive affairs director.

“No further information is available at this time,” Alphin said.

Other Augusta-area media outlets reported that Milner’s attorney, Chris Austin, released an official statement Tuesday evening saying Milner is facing “unwarranted scrutiny” over “unfounded allegations.”
