The news was announced Saturday morning at the Hispanic Heritage Community Breakfast by Sin Fronteras WNY and Buffalo Toronto Public Media.

BUFFALO, NY — A Latino radio station is coming to Western New York and Southern Ontario! Listeners can listen to Radio Bilingüe on 88.7 WBFO HD3. The news was announced today at the Hispanic Heritage Community Breakfast by Sin Fronteras WNY and Buffalo Toronto Public Media.

“This is a monumental step forward in bringing Hispanic/Latino programming to our growing Hispanic community here in WNY, and we are grateful for the partnership with Buffalo Toronto Public Media. This project has been in the works for many years and I am thrilled that it is finally coming to fruition,” said Casimiro Rodriguez, President and Founder of the Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York and Sin Fronteras WNY . “We already have a local talk show program in production and several sponsors have signed on. It won’t be long before our local community hears local voices on the station,” he added in a press release shared with 2 On Your Side.

Radio Bilingüe offers a variety of programs including music, news and information, as well as forums for Latin American voices. The dialogue is intended to be inclusive, including Spanish, English, Mixtec and Triqui languages. Programming focuses on Latin American arts and culture.

“Similar to our adaptive sports initiatives and WBFO’s What’s Next, Radio Bilingüe closely aligns with Buffalo Toronto Public Media’s mission to support communities typically overlooked by traditional media. Through this partnership with Sin Fronteras WNY and the Hispanic Heritage Council, Radio Bilingüe will serve and celebrate our Latino audience from southern Ontario to the South,” said Tom Calderone, President and CEO of Buffalo Toronto Public Media .

This station is produced by and for diverse Latinos, and listeners can also expect to stream it on a website later in the summer.
