48-year-old man found strangled in East Farmingdale

The discovery of a 48-year-old man strangled to death in East Farmingdale on Saturday morning has sparked a murder investigation.

Suffolk Police said a local resident found the victim lying in the grass on Garity Place between Morton Street and East Carmans Road. A 911 call was made shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Police identified the victim as Juan Carlos Diaz Geronimo of North Amityville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said they are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses and homes.
