Milford Police Warn of Person Posing as Police Officer Examining Counterfeit Money – NBC Connecticut

Milford Police are warning residents about a recent scam that left a restaurant robbed of hundreds of dollars.

According to police, someone called the Walnut Beach Creamery on Friday and said he was a police lieutenant investigating counterfeit money.

During the conversation, investigators said the person on the phone asked suspicious questions about the company’s cash reserves, its location and the number of people employed there.

According to police, Café Atlantique later reported that the same person called their business and reportedly defrauded them of $780 after being instructed to wire the money.

The investigation is ongoing. If you receive such a call, we urge you not to provide any information and to call the local police.
