First weather warning: Yellow warning issued for Sunday, severe weather warning

ROCHESTER, NY — Wake up to another warm and humid morning this Saturday. The humid conditions will continue Saturday, as will the warmth.

Saturday will see highs in the 30s, not as hot as this week but still feeling summery. Saturday will see skies vary between overcast and mostly sunny, with the best chance of sunshine in the afternoon.

Scattered showers are possible Saturday morning and Saturday evening, but it will remain dry for most of the day. There is a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday as a cold front slowly moves through. Therefore, severe weather is possible Sunday afternoon. Due to the threat of severe weather and the continuation of the Jazz Festival, the First Alert Weather team is issuing a yellow warning for Sunday. Sunday morning will be cloudy before some sun breaks through around midday. Scattered showers are possible Sunday morning, but no severe weather is expected. Showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds and locally heavy rain will develop into the early afternoon hours on Sunday before another dry period returns around the afternoon.

Sunday will see scattered showers and thunderstorms through Sunday evening, with chances continuing until sunset. The biggest threat on Sunday will be gusty winds and locally heavy rain, but a stray thunderstorm could try to move in and some small hail is possible. There will be more refreshing air behind Sunday’s cold front, arriving on Monday.
