1 dead and 7 injured in shooting at Louisville nightclub

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a gun battle broke out at a nightclub in west Louisville, leaving one person dead and seven injured, including one person who remains in critical condition.

Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department were called to the H20 Lounge in the Russell neighborhood just before 1 a.m., WDRB reported. When they arrived at the scene, they immediately found two people with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim was taken to University Hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unclear.

As authorities investigated the violence, medical personnel at local hospitals alerted them to six more victims. Police said they got themselves into ambulances after the shooting and sought help themselves. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

So far, few further details about the shooting have been released and no arrests have been made.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are also unclear. Authorities said they are still working to determine whether or not there was a connection between the victims.

The LMPD has asked anyone with information to come forward.
