Suspect in Orem Rec. Center sexual abuse identified and arrested by police

OREM, Utah (KUTV) — Police have identified the man accused of sexually assaulting a person in a locker room at the Orem Family Fitness Center.

On Friday, June 21, officials with the Orem City Police Department said the man was identified through a tip on social media and was questioned.

This investigation began around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evening when police were dispatched to the Orem Rec Center at 575 West Center Street.

A caller reported that a sexual assault had occurred in one of the dressing rooms and that the adult victim had escaped.

Security footage was provided by staff. Police shared snapshots of the man’s face and one of his tattoos via Facebook on Thursday.

Thanks to the hard work of police officers and community members, the man was found and taken into custody by Friday.\
