Man allegedly tried to drown two children in West Haven: reports

WEST HAVEN, CT — A New York man was arrested Friday morning after police say he attempted to drown his two children on a West Haven beach, according to multiple reports.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. as an officer was patrolling near Ocean and Dawson avenues, WFSB reported. The officer noticed a Nissan SUV parked on the beach and heard screaming coming from the water.

According to a WTNH report, the officer followed the screams and discovered a man “intentionally drowning his (two young) children.”

Additional officers and West Shore Fire Department boats responded and were able to pull the children from the water, reports said. Both were taken to the hospital, where they remain in intensive care.

The man is reportedly Romney Desronvil, 41, of Queens. He is currently in West Haven police custody awaiting arraignment.
