Two people were killed and 15 injured in Russian attacks on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Saturday, regional governor Oleg Synegubov said.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, is located near the Russian border and has been badly damaged in repeated attacks.

Russia launched a new offensive in the Kharkiv region in May, making its most significant territorial gains in 18 months.

Synegubov wrote on Telegram that Russian soldiers “hit a residential building with guided bombs” on Saturday afternoon.

“According to initial information from rescue workers, two people were killed,” said Synegubov. “The number of those injured in the attacks by the occupiers has risen to 15.”
