Two people arrested and charged with drug trafficking

Two people are in prison on high bail after being caught with drugs and later charged with human trafficking.

On June 12, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Organized Crime Unit, along with SWAT and K9 units, executed a search warrant at 417 E. Rio Grande St. in Taylor. Five people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine.

Edward Tito Garza was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, more than one but less than four grams. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Garza has a history of violent and drug offenses, including a 1992 murder conviction and multiple charges of evading arrest, failure to identify as a fugitive and various drug offenses.

Claudia Gaspar was also arrested during the investigation. Gaspar was later also charged with human trafficking.

Finally, Garza was also charged with child sex trafficking.

“The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating human trafficking and drug-related crimes,” the press release said. “We will continue to pursue and arrest offenders who threaten our community so the District Attorney can bring them to justice.”

Both Gaspar and Garza remain in custody at the Williamson County Jail. Gaspar’s bail is set at $75,000, while Garza’s bail is set at $600,000.

The names of the other suspects were not released.
