1 dead, 1 airlifted after pickup truck crashes into tree in Osceola County, FHP said

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Florida. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck left the road and struck a tree in Osceola County Friday evening, killing one passenger and seriously injuring the other.

The accident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on US Highway 441 north of Williams Road, police said.

According to a preliminary accident report from FHP, the pickup truck – a 2005 Ford F-250 – was traveling south on U.S. 441 when its driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The Ford left the roadway and the driver overcorrected, causing the truck to spin counterclockwise before leaving the roadway again and striking a tree on its right side, the report said.

One occupant of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other occupant was flown to the hospital by helicopter as a trauma alert, troopers said. The identities of both people have yet to be confirmed, according to FHP.

A road closure has been set up in both directions in the area of ​​the accident. News 6 is working to verify that this is still the case.
