The judge ultimately agreed that the conviction would stand. Investigators have determined how David Schultz died after he disappeared in Sac County. The Sac County District Attorney’s Office says Schultz’s death was caused by hypothermia and acute methamphetamine intoxication. The once-missing Iowa trucker who was found dead on a farm in rural Sac County about two months ago died of hypothermia as a result of acute methamphetamine poisoning, the Sioux City Journal and KCRG report.

The report, which cites a death certificate for David Schultz, says he took the drug and then died when exposed to the cold outside.
