1 arrested for obstructing fire department in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Michigan (WOOD) – A person was arrested early Saturday morning for obstructing a firefighter fighting a fire in Kalamazoo.

At around 2 a.m., fire crews from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the area of ​​N Rose Street near W Patterson Street after a passerby called to report a fire.


The emergency services found a fire at the rear of the building. They quickly extinguished the flames.

A crowd formed while the fire was being fought. According to KDPS, a man, whose age is not yet known, entered the home despite firefighters’ instructions not to do so. He was arrested for obstructing a firefighter’s operation and is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
