Has the car dealership outage hit mid-Missouri? | Mid Missouri News

Several mid-Missouri car dealerships say the cyber incident at CDK Global reported by national outlets is affecting them, which could damage sales during car-buying season. The issue began on Wednesday.

CDK Global’s software is used at 15,000 auto dealers nationally and in Canada, and the outage could last through the weekend, CNN reported Thursday. CDK operates many different products car dealers use to handle tasks including keeping records of deals to scheduling and communicating about service, CNN reported.

Joe Machens Toyota in Columbia is hoping to have its computer system rebooted sometime next week, an employee told KOMU 8 on Friday. The employee said the incident was affecting multiple Joe Machen’s dealerships.

However, the outage has not hit every dealership. Jim Butler Chevrolet in Linn told KOMU 8 it has not been affected.

A spokesperson from CDK told CNN that the company is actively investigating the incident.

“Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our customers, we have shut down most of our systems and are working diligently to get everything up and running as quickly as possible,” spokesperson Lisa Finney told CNN.
