2 years after the shark attack in Pacific Grove, Steve Bruemmer says he is recovering well

It’s been nearly two years since a shark attack at Lovers Point Beach nearly took the life of a swimmer. On June 22, 2022, Breummer was swimming 137 yards from the beach when he was bitten by a great white shark. He suffered severe injuries to both his abdomen and leg. KSBW 8 caught up with Steve Bruemmer on the nearly second anniversary of his attack to hear how his recovery is going. “My legs are slowly getting stronger. My right quadriceps aren’t working. Although there are early signs that maybe in another year of nerve growth they will. I can walk pretty well and for the past few months I’ve been able to ride a bike. So that’s a big change for me,” Bruemmer said. Steve said he’s getting a little better every day. He stressed how grateful he is to everyone who stepped in and potentially saved his life. He was grateful to three good Samaritans who pulled him from the water, the paramedics who saved his life when he was losing blood and the staff at Natividad Trauma Center who nursed him back to health. It’s been almost two years since a shark attack at Lovers Point Beach nearly claimed the life of a swimmer.

On June 22, 2022, Breummer was swimming 137 meters from the beach when he was bitten by a great white shark, suffering severe injuries to both his abdomen and leg.

KSBW 8 caught up with Steve Bruemmer on the nearly two-year anniversary of his attack to ask about his recovery.
