Wayne Christian responds to ongoing investigation

On Friday, Wayne Christian School sent an email to parents of students for the third time regarding an investigation into misconduct by a former Wayne Christian employee.

Wayne Christian initially sent an email on May 20 informing parents that the employee in question had been removed from campus and the appropriate authorities had been notified. The email did not include the name of the employee removed from campus.

The email also reaffirmed Wayne Christian’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its students.

On May 22, Wayne Christian sent a second email to parents addressing the speculation surrounding the employee being expelled from campus.

That email said the school became aware of the employee’s alleged misconduct on May 10 and that Wayne Christian immediately reported the allegations to local authorities and removed the employee from campus.

The second email also pointed out that Wayne Christian is cooperating with Goldsboro police, and the school is not legally able to release information about the details of the investigation.

Friday’s email was written by Wayne Christian assistant principal Luis Miranda and reiterated the ongoing investigation by Goldsboro police. Miranda’s email also noted that Wayne Christian will retain a third party to conduct a comprehensive review of internal processes.

Miranda’s email on Friday said, among other things: “First and foremost, on behalf of our school leadership and school council, we want to say that we are saddened by the way the school year ended and the circumstances that have caused unrest at our school. Please be assured that we remain fully committed to the safety and well-being of our students, staff and families.

Our school is actively working with the Goldsboro Police Department to resolve the situation. Sergeant Warren and Detective Borden are the investigators assigned to this case.

Due to the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation, we cannot disclose any details at this time. The authorities have instructed us from the outset not to share any information in order to protect the integrity of their work.
