Tyheed Harvey Charges: Suspect Arrested After 7 People Shot on North Bambrey Street in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police have arrested one of the suspects allegedly involved in a shooting that left seven people injured earlier this week.

A video shows three male suspects stopping in a car and at least one of them firing 17 shots on North Bambrey Street in north Philadelphia around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The victims, aged between 16 and 46, were all shot outdoors. Police say one of them is in critical condition, while the rest are stable at a nearby hospital.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle used in the shooting in the 6300 block of Magnolia Street in East Mt. Airy on Thursday morning. It was described as a dark gray Acura TSX (model year 2004 to 2008). At around 10 a.m., undercover officers spotted one of the suspects attempting to get into the vehicle and took him in for questioning.

Police identified the suspect on Friday evening as 23-year-old Tyheed Harvey. He is now charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and related offenses.

“This senseless, blatant disregard for life has no place in our city,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel. “The quick response and diligent work of our officers and the detectives of the Shooting Investigations Group have resulted in one significant arrest, and there are more to come.”

Officers are still searching for two other suspects in connection with the incident.

The shooting is said to have been the result of a dispute between teenagers, which resulted in parents getting involved, police said.

At the scene, officers found two women who had been shot in the legs.

According to police, a 16-year-old girl was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children with graze wounds to her stomach and leg.

The four other victims – two men and two women – were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

Sources told Action News that officers had been conducting surveillance on several other homes that may have connections to the other suspects involved.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
