Recently obtained court documents state that 23-year-old Shawn David Bundy was arrested after a grand jury issued an arrest warrant last week for manslaughter and endangerment.

According to Surprise police, the accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on October 14, 2023 near Deer Valley and Williams roads.

When officers arrived, they found two vehicles: a Dodge RAM truck and a Honda Civic, which were heavily damaged. Inside the Civic were two sisters, later identified as 19-year-old Bea Cueto and 20-year-old Althea Cueto, both of Surprise, who died from their injuries.

Bundy, the driver of the truck, was investigated for possible impairment and several possible criminal charges were filed against him. Two months later, in December 2023, charges were formally filed with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for the following:

  • 2 cases of premeditated murder
  • 2 cases of negligent homicide
  • 4 cases of endangerment
  • 1 charge of speeding
  • 1 count of aggressive driving
  • 1 charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol to the least extent
  • 1 charge of driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more

According to a Surprise police spokesman, Bundy’s bail was set at $200,000
