Minor girl raped and killed, father blames neighbours | Lucknow News

Lucknow: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Hardoi. Police have filed a rape and murder case on the complaint of the victim’s father, who on Friday named his neighbour Raghvendra as the accused. Police said there was an old dispute between the two sides. The post-mortem has confirmed sexual assault and that the girl was gagged to death. The minor’s body was found in the fields. Police are trying to nab the accused. Hardoi SP KC Goswami said the girl, a resident of a village in Tadiyawan police station area, had left her home on Wednesday afternoon to pluck flowers. “When she did not return, her family tried to search for her. However, they could not find her and then reported the matter to Station House Officer of Tadiyawan police station Ashok Singh. ASP (West) Martand Prakash Singh and circle collector Santosh Kumar Singh visited the crime scene around 1 am but did not find any substantial clues,” the SP said. Police resumed their search at 4 am. They found the girl’s clothes and slippers near a field and subsequently searched for her in the sugarcane field. Her naked body was found under a sheesham tree covered with leaves, he said. Following this, the victim’s father lodged a complaint and an FIR was registered. According to sources, Raghvendra was previously in a relationship with the victim’s elder sister but the parents were against it. Hence, the family suspects that the accused might have planned the rape and murder.
