Fatal multi-vehicle crash on I-270 in Montgomery County leads to closure of major lanes

Two people were killed and one person was injured in a three-vehicle crash early Friday on I-270 in Montgomery County, authorities said.

Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Emergency Services, said in a tweet shortly before 5 a.m. Friday that the collision in the northbound lanes between Falls Road and Route 28 caused a vehicle to catch fire and trapped two passengers, while a third passenger was able to exit the vehicle.
