Police seize goods stolen from garages in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police say they have recovered stolen property from garages across Louisville.

The challenge now is to return it to its owners.

On Friday, LMPD posted dozens of photos of stolen items on the department’s Facebook page and asked the public to take a look.

The seized loot includes tools and equipment that are often stored in the garage of a house.

“There’s tons of hand tools, and all that stuff adds up. It’s pretty expensive,” Sergeant Joe Keeling said as officers showed the items to local media. “But there’s a lot more in a lot of those containers over there than you see in front of you. All of those containers are packed with hand tools and things like that.”

Officers arrested Kristopher Anderson, Douglas Miller and Amber Croft and charged them with burglary, attempted burglary and drug trafficking, among other offenses.

“After some investigation over the last probably three weeks, we spent many hours trying to identify these guys and figure out where the stuff was hidden,” Keeling said.

Recovering stolen items is easy if the victim has serial numbers or the items are marked with personal identification features.

On Friday morning, Tracy Titus was one of the victims who had some of her property returned.

When she woke up on May 22, she found her garage open and thousands of dollars worth of paint, tools and cabinets stolen.

“Both garage doors were open, both the main door and the big door, and everything was missing from that wall,” Titus said. “And it was horrible. It’s just me and my daughter, and I had no security system.”

Titus was able to save their cabinets, but not their contents, including paint, tools and car keys.

She now has a security system.

“Knowing that I now have security, my phone is active and I can see who is in my garage or my driveway just made me feel good,” Titus said.

Keeling said the suspects are allegedly linked to seven burglaries and that more may follow.
