Delivery driver attacked during food delivery in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – A food delivery driver was attacked early Monday morning while delivering food at 2364 Batchelder Street. At approximately 12:10 a.m., a 37-year-old male victim was approached by two individuals, a man and a woman, who began a verbal altercation. The female suspect subsequently punched the victim in the face and displayed a firearm that she was hiding under her waistband. Meanwhile, the male suspect confiscated the food.

Both suspects, described as 25 to 30 years old and black, fled on foot into the building at 2364 Batchelder Street. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

The victim refused medical treatment at the scene. Authorities are investigating the incident and are asking the public for information to help locate the suspects.

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of two young men, Quincy Johnson of Takoma Park and D’Andre Wint of Lanham. Both 20-year-olds were shot and killed on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Nolte Local Park on Denver Road in Silver Spring.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:57 p.m. and prompted the immediate response of officers from the Montgomery County Police – 3rd District and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police. Upon arrival, officers found Johnson and Wint dead at the scene.

Investigators have not yet arrested any suspects and are asking the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible. The investigation is ongoing and law enforcement is working tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and their families.

COLUMBUS, OH—Columbus police are warning the public about a growing wave of internet scams targeting users of dating apps. Detectives report scammers are tricking people into sharing explicit photos and then claiming the photos were sent to minors. The scammers are posing as police officers and intimidating their victims into paying money to avoid alleged legal consequences.

Officials say these scam schemes have evolved, and scammers can now spoof phone numbers of police departments and other agencies to appear more credible. Police stress that real law enforcement agencies would never ask for money through dating apps or social media to resolve legal issues.

Columbus Police advise anyone who encounters such scams to cease all communication and report the incident to local authorities immediately, stressing the importance of being cautious and skeptical when interacting online, especially with unknown individuals.

Police also recommend verifying suspicious interactions by calling the supposed agency’s number directly to confirm the identity of the person on the other end. This precaution can prevent people from falling for such sophisticated scams.

WILKES-BARRE, PA – A carjacking was reported on East Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, resulting in charges against a 45-year-old man from Duryea, PA. The incident occurred on June 20 at 6:23 a.m.

According to the victim, a 38-year-old man from Plains, PA, he left his brown 2007 Jeep Cherokee (PA license plate LRN-2084) with the engine running and unsecured in front of a store when he briefly went inside. When he returned, he found that his vehicle was missing. Wilkes-Barre City Police went to the scene after the victim reported the incident.

During their investigation, officers were able to identify Alan Weitz as the suspect involved in the theft. Weitz has been charged and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are seeking additional information regarding this incident.
