Armed robbery in Hickory under investigation

Hickory police are investigating an armed robbery at a residence on Valley Arbors Drive in Hickory yesterday (June 20). The incident occurred Thursday around 6:15 p.m. The victim is a 36-year-old Statesville man. A Michael Kors bag containing $15,000 in cash was stolen. The bag was recovered, but the cash was not. The suspect was armed with a handgun, according to police reports. It is currently unclear if shots were fired or if anyone was injured. No charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
