Amazon driver from New York who was attacked and called a “Spanish slut” speaks out about the attack

A New York Amazon driver who was brutally attacked by a stranger while on the job says he called her “sexy” and then said he “doesn’t like Spanish chicks” before repeatedly punching and kicking her – after which her heroic colleague stepped in and “spanked his ass.”

Tamia Alvarez, 23, told The Post she had just picked up some packages from the Amazon warehouse in Jamaica, Queens, and was stuck in traffic when the creep, later identified by police as Kevon Wilson, started charging toward her last Sunday.

“We turned left and the guy threw himself into a colleague’s car a little further ahead, then he looked at me and my van and ran toward me,” Alvarez said in an interview on Friday.

Kevon Wilson was held on bail at $7,500 following his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.

“He did what men always do: they pull up their pants when they are about to fight with someone, and I knew the situation was going to escalate.

“Then he just started hitting me and pulled me out of the van.”

Video footage of the shocking incident shows the quick-thinking victim removing the ignition key before the attacker could escape in the van.

Alvarez said she fought back at least once as she tried to defend herself and protect her property.

During the “terrifying” attack, Wilson allegedly verbally abused his victim, she said.

“He said, ‘Oh, you’re sexy,’ and then ‘I don’t like Spanish sluts,'” Alvarez recalled.

“I was confused. Then he said, ‘You’re broke, you work at Amazon, you only get $15 an hour.’ Honestly, he called me a bitch a lot and kept telling me that he made more money than me.”

Alvarez’s colleague Daniel Collins rushed to defend her – and hit the attacker several times himself.

Tamia Alvarez’s colleague came to her aid and beat up the creep.

“He spanked him, but the guy kept coming back. I told him to go away,” Alvarez said.

“He let himself be outsmarted.”

Collins was filmed repeatedly hitting the suspect in the middle of the street until Alvarez intervened to separate the two men.

When the two finally stopped their fight, the perpetrator brazenly jumped into the van, apparently in an attempt to disappear with the vehicle again.

The suspect first hit the Amazon employee twice.

The two Amazon employees, who each suffered minor injuries, can then be seen trying to pull the man out of the vehicle, as the video shows.

“He stopped briefly, but then kept coming back and trying to get into the van,” Alvarez said.

The potential car thief was later arrested for robbery and assault.

The suspected perpetrator, dressed in black, tried to steal the Amazon employee’s delivery van.

Alvarez, who was born and raised in New York, said she no longer feels safe in the city.

“I’m definitely starting to open my eyes more now because it happened so quickly and you hear a lot about these things these days,” she told The Post.

“We need more people to advocate for our women’s rights in life,” she added.

“I thank God for the young man who came and helped, and for those who were raised properly … because I don’t know how it would have turned out otherwise, and it can happen to any young woman.”

Amazon did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.

The workers dragged the suspect out of the van.

Wilson’s bail was set at $7,500 following his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on Monday.

He is scheduled to appear in court again on July 16.

The suspect has been arrested several times, including in May 2020 for an assault, law enforcement sources said.

There is also an arrest warrant out for him for a traffic violation, the sources added.
