Buffalo woman charged with murder in fatal Cheektowaga hit-and-run

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo woman faces murder and attempted murder charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Union Road in Cheektowaga.

Scott, 21, was arraigned in State Supreme Court on an indictment charging her with one count of murder in second degree, one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of departure. at the scene of an unrelated incident resulting in death.

The prosecutor’s office said that on May 19, Scott went with two male passengers to a car wash in the 2200 block of Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga. She allegedly argued with one of the passengers, then had a physical altercation. The two men walked away and Scott allegedly followed them in his vehicle.

Scott is accused of speeding the vehicle toward them as they crossed Union Road. Demario Patterson, 21, was hit and taken to ECMC where he later died. She allegedly left the scene without reporting the incident to police and the vehicle was later found on Briscoe Avenue in Buffalo.

The prosecutor’s office said Scott is being held without bail and a return court date has not been set.

“This is a completely senseless crime. This defendant would have known these two victims, traveled with them before the crime, then would have intentionally driven her vehicle towards them while they were crossing the street defenseless. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who tragically lost his life. Fortunately, the surviving victim and no one else were injured on the road that day. »
