A Longmont man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash early Saturday morning.

Nestor Omar Arellano-Almazan, 30, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide – driving under the influence, drunken driving and failure to notify police of an accident. The victim in the case was identified in police and court documents as 39-year-old Joshua Larrin of Longmont.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim, but Longmont Public Safety spokesman Robin Ericson confirmed that Arellano-Almazan and Larrin were the two people involved in Saturday’s fatal crash .

Ericson said officers were dispatched to a crash east of East County Line Road at 12:46 a.m. Saturday. Police believe Larrin was driving a stolen motorcycle on Ken Pratt Boulevard when he was struck by Arellano-Almazan, who was turning his pickup onto Timm Way.

Larrin died at the scene and Arellano-Almazan was arrested and booked into the Weld County Jail. Police believe Arellano-Almazan was drunk at the time of the accident.

The motorcycle had been reported stolen in Longmont, Ericson said.

According to Krista Henerey, community relations director for the 19th Judicial District, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office has no releaseable information about the crash until the suspect’s formal arraignment on May 15.

Arellano-Almazan’s booking photo was not immediately available. He is being held in the Weld County Jail, according to court records.

Any witnesses who have not spoken to police are asked to contact Officer Samantha Calvetti at 303-651-8540. Ericson also expressed police interest in any video footage from dashcams or businesses in the immediate area.
