Buffalo Music Hall of Fame establishes ‘Rainbow Connection’ | Local News

Members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame gathered at the hall’s headquarters on Amherst Street in Buffalo on June 14 to receive an official platinum album “Rainbow Connection” from “The Muppet Movie.”

Friends and family members of Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee Ernie Corallo, who was inducted in the Class of 1989, will present his platinum album, which will remain in the Buffalo Archives, to the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Music Hall of Fame Museum.

Corallo (guitars) and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee Gary Mallaber, Class of 1997 (drums), were credited for their work on the 1979 film “The Muppet Movie: Original Soundtrack Recording.”

“The Muppet Movie,” including the song “Rainbow Connection” and music, was written by songwriters Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher. Originally released on LP by Atlantic Records in North America and by CBS internationally, the album reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The soundtrack won a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe, two Academy Awards and reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
