Georgetown police arrest Haverhill teen after incident at American Legion Park

GEORGETOWN – Police Chief David Sedgwick reports that Georgetown police have arrested a male juvenile in connection with an incident at American Legion Park.

A male youth, 17 years old, from HAVERHILLis accused:

  • Improper conduct
  • Resisting arrest
  • Bodily harm to a police officer
  • Trespassing
  • Person under 21 in possession of alcohol
  • Disturbing the peace

On Thursday, June 20, at approximately 5:31 p.m., Georgetown Police received reports that a group of individuals were consuming alcohol on the beach, which is a violation of city ordinances.

Officers were dispatched to the beach and upon arrival found two men and four women talking near a tree and that several of them had alcohol with them.

The officers ordered the group to disperse. All members obeyed the order, except for the MALE ADOLESCENTS who led officers on a foot chase, shouting obscenities and harassing passersby.

The MALE ADOLESCENTS was later observed near the basketball courts on Flint Road and then stopped on Chaplin Road. MALE ADOLESCENTS refused to obey the officers’ instructions and punched an officer in the side of the face.

The MALE ADOLESCENTS was arrested and transported to the Georgetown Police Station where bail was set at $500. His arraignment in Lawrence Juvenile Court is scheduled for Friday, June 21.
