Woman attacked in Georgetown camp

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was reportedly attacked at a warehouse off Highway 17 near Murrells Inlet.

Deputies responded to the incident on Thursday morning at around 0:20 a.m.


The victim reportedly met her attacker earlier in the day through mutual friends and he helped her move things around her storage unit. She left the unit to get food and when she returned, the perpetrator began acting strangely.

The woman attempted to escape into the warehouse, but was stopped by her attacker, who threw her to the ground several times and eventually pulled out a pocket knife, reports say.

According to reports from the victim, she also observed her attacker pushing the surveillance cameras in the warehouse building to the ceiling during the attack.

According to authorities, the woman eventually managed to escape and call for help.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified or caught the person.
