Newburgh couple arrested in child abuse investigation

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Two people have been arrested in connection with a child abuse investigation in Newburgh.

The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation was launched last month after the Warrick County Department of Child Services filed a report of suspected serious abuse in the 6700 block of Oak View Ct.

Investigators were able to identify 37-year-old Thomas Burch and 28-year-old Nina Shepherd as suspects. Officials say Shepherd is a foster mother. Officials say all of the children were taken to ensure their safety and well-being.

Officials also state that after the case was filed with the Warrick County District Attorney’s Office, charges were filed and arrest warrants were issued. Burch and Shepherd were arrested Thursday and booked into the Warrick County Jail.

Burch is charged with three counts of false imprisonment. His bail is set at $1,000 cash.
