Woman found dead at Isle of Wight Festival campsite

A woman in her 40s was found dead at a campsite at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said they were informed of the “sudden” death on Thursday morning.

A spokesman said: “We were called to a sudden death at the Isle of Wight Festival campsite at 10.51am yesterday (20 June).

“The death of a woman in her 40s has been confirmed and her family has been informed.

“This is not considered suspicious and a file will be opened for the coroner.”

The festival-goer died on the opening day of the Isle of Wight Festival 2024.

The annual Newport event is scheduled to take place at Seaclose Park this weekend.

A spokesman for the festival organisers said: “The Isle of Wight Festival team is deeply saddened to hear of the death of a festival-goer on Thursday morning.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and friends.”
