Construction workers evacuated due to gas leak in southeast Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A gas leak was reported Friday morning along the 800 block of Memorial Drive at Bill Kennedy Way in southeast Atlanta.

Atlanta Fire Rescue says crews were dispatched to a broken two-inch commercial line near a vacant three-story wood frame building under construction. All workers had to be evacuated.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says road closures are possible and drivers and pedestrians should avoid the area at this time.

Emergency services and utility companies were on scene to address the situation.
