Man shot in vehicle on South Side, passerby seriously injured

CHICAGO – A man in a vehicle was shot and killed on the South Side early Friday morning and a bystander was seriously injured.

Police believe a 31-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the 7700 block of South Prairie. An unknown suspect in a white vehicle fired shots, striking the man in the head.

The 31-year-old left the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old man walking nearby was also shot. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to his arm.

No one is in custody
