Body found in Tempe Town Lake; police investigating

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) – Police recovered a body from Tempe Town Lake early Friday morning and had to close the area for the investigation.

Tempe police responded to a call that a body had been found in the lake near Rio Salado Parkway and Mill Avenue just before 5 a.m. When officers arrived, they confirmed that the body of a man was floating in the lake.

First responders were able to recover the man’s body from the water. While the police are investigating, the area near the lake is cordoned off with caution tape. The identity of the person is not yet known and the cause of death is also not yet known.

This comes after another man drowned in Tempe Town Lake earlier this week. Tempe police said 47-year-old Michael Reyes was seen entering the water and swimming about two-thirds of the way across the lake before disappearing on Monday. His body was recovered Tuesday morning.
