WEATHER WARNING: Chance of rain and thunderstorms until the weekend

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team Weather Advisory remains in effect due to extreme heat and the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms.

A heat warning with heat index values ​​between 95 and 105 degrees is in effect for Hampden and Hampshire counties until 7 p.m. Friday evening.


Friday will be another hot and humid day, but not quite as hot as the last few days. Temperatures will climb to around 90 degrees Friday afternoon and it will be very muggy. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy today, with the chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Some storms could bring very heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and frequent lightning.

Showers and thunderstorms will end Friday night and skies will be mostly cloudy. It will be a muggy night with lows around 18 degrees. Saturday will be another unsettled day with mostly cloudy skies and the chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be above 25 degrees.
