Eastbound Loop 1604 on I-10 in the far northwest will be closed this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Motorists, prepare for another round of major construction closures in the far northwest this weekend.

As part of the Loop 1604 North expansion project, TxDOT will have several closures in place beginning at 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 21 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, weather permitting.

The main lanes of westbound I-10 and Loop 1604 will remain open. The closure will allow crews to continue work on the pillars at the intersection.

The closures include:

  • Loop 1604, main lanes eastbound, from the Vance Jackson Road exit to the Lockhill Selma Road ramp

  • Loop 1604, westbound main lanes at I-10 interchange – Left lane only

  • Loop 1604 eastbound exit ramp to I-10 eastbound

  • I-10 exit east to Loop 1604 east

  • Loop 1604 westbound exit ramp to I-10 westbound

  • I-10 Eastbound: Collector-Distributor at Loop 1604 Intersection

  • Cloverleaf ramps from Loop 1604 westbound to I-10 eastbound and from I-10 eastbound to Loop 1604 eastbound

  • I-10 westbound access road between Loop 1604 westbound access road and the La Cantera exit ramp (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights only)

Access to businesses surrounding the interchange will remain open. Closures may remain open throughout the weekend while works are carried out. Information on how traffic will be diverted through the closures is provided below.

These are the minimum closures required for the planned work. All closures are subject to change as needed. Local police authorities will be directing traffic during this time. Drivers are asked to plan ahead for delays. A map and detour information is provided below.

Loop 1604 main lanes eastbound and to I-10 eastbound

All travelers in the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB will exit the road at the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp and proceed on the Loop 1604 EB access road. Traffic may re-enter the freeway at the Lockhill Selma Road on-ramp. Travelers in the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB wishing to access I-10 EB will use the Loop 1604 EB access road leading to the I-10 EB access road and may enter the main lanes of I-10 EB at the on-ramp just beyond the interchange.

Loop 1604, westbound main lanes to I-10 eastbound and I-10 westbound

All travelers on Loop 1604 WB desiring to access I-10 EB should exit onto the Loop 1604 WB access road and proceed through the I-10 interchange, then turn left onto the I-10 EB access road lanes, then continue on the access road to merge onto the main lanes of I-10 EB at the next available ramp. Traffic on Loop 1604 WB desiring to access I-10 WB should exit onto the Loop 1604 WB access road and then continue on the I-10 WB access road and merge onto I-10 WB at the ramp immediately beyond the interchange.

I-10 East to Loop 1604 East

All travelers wishing to access Loop 1604 EB from the main lanes of I-10 EB should take Exit 556 B and follow the I-10 EB access road to the Loop 1604 interchange. There, they should turn right and proceed through a traffic light to access the Loop 1604 EB access road. Traffic may access the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB via the Lockhill Selma Road ramp.

I-10 west to Loop 1604 east

All travelers in the main lanes of I-10 WB wishing to access Loop 1604 EB should take the service road exit ramp (just north of UTSA Boulevard) and continue on the service road to the Loop 1604 EB service road. Traffic may access the main lanes of Loop 1604 EB via the Lockhill Selma Road on-ramp.

No major construction closures are planned during the week surrounding the July 4th holiday.
