Two homes in Woodbridge were shot at and police are investigating

Two homes were shot at twice in Woodbridge within 24 hours.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – It’s been a frightening few weeks for a Woodbridge family who were awakened by gunfire not once, but twice in 24 hours.

“They just started shooting and we couldn’t understand what was going on,” said Kendra, who lives in one of the houses.

She and her son Brenner showed WUSA9 some of the bullet holes. They say one of the bullets actually went into their home on Cobb Court in Woodbridge.

The first time was on April 24th, around 2 a.m

The family said they heard a noise but weren’t sure what it was. When they woke up, they discovered that their cars, which were parked in the driveway, were damaged.

But the second time, on April 25, just after 1 a.m., they heard the shots and their doorbell camera captured what happened.

In the video you can see the driver of a dark sedan driving slowly past the house, then shots are fired.

“The second time they just shot at our house and this time we all woke up,” Brenner said.

She said it appeared at least six bullets hit her home and one entered the home.

“Sometimes they go to fetch water at midnight. If you stand at the door, the bullet could hit someone’s face,” she explained.

Prince William County police told WUSA9 they also received similar calls both evenings at a home on Alaska Road in Woodbridge.

“In both shootings, a dark colored sedan was seen driving away and that is one of the reasons police are looking for people who may be connected to them,” Prince William County Chief Constable Renee Carr said.

She told WUSA9 shootings like this are deeply concerning.

“Any time there’s a shooting in a residence, it’s alarming,” said Police Chief Carr.

WUSA9 has compiled data on “dwelling shooting” calls in Prince William County.

In the last two weeks alone, the department has responded to at least five calls of this nature.

Police could not confirm as of Monday afternoon whether this is a trend or whether there has been an increase in these calls.

They are still looking for the shooter or shooters and their motive.

Kendra and her family also want to know why.

“We don’t understand why, but I hope when they see this from the bottom of their hearts they stop it because it’s not fair. We’re just normal people coming to work and working on our house and I think that’s not fair,” he told Kendra.
