Remy Ma’s son was reportedly arrested on suspicion of murder in 2021

Jayson Scott, the son of Grammy-nominated rapper, actor and TV star Remy Ma, has reportedly been arrested in New York on murder charges in connection with a fatal shooting that allegedly occurred three years ago.

Scott, 23, is accused of the premeditated and wanton murder of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux, the New York Police Department told ABC and NBC News. He is also charged with reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm, according to media reports. Another suspect has also reportedly been arrested in connection with the case.

The case stems from an alleged altercation in Queens on June 7, 2021, in which Guillebeaux suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest, police said.

USA TODAY has reached out to the NYPD and Scott’s attorney for comment.

A lawyer for Ma, who starred in the VH1 series “Love & Hip Hop New York,” said in a statement to NBC News and People that Scott was arrested on “very serious, baseless allegations.”

“Remy Ma wanted to address this situation personally, but our office has strongly advised her not to say anything publicly – as most people in this situation would, as the case is still pending,” the statement said. “To be clear: Jayson Scott is innocent and Remy Ma is committed to proving his innocence and fully supporting her child during this time.”

According to People and TMZ, the statement continued: “We stand by Jayson’s innocence and hope the NYPD will conduct a full and thorough investigation to bring the truth to light. This has undoubtedly been a difficult time for Remy Ma and her family.”

“While she sincerely appreciates the love and support she has received, we politely ask that you respect her privacy while her legal team works to prove Jayson’s innocence.”
