Roberto Baggio hospitalized after being attacked by armed robbers while watching Euro 2024

Italian football star Roberto Baggio was robbed at gunpoint in his home while watching his national team’s match against Spain at the European Championships.

According to Italian media reports, at least five armed robbers entered Baggio’s villa near the northern Italian city of Vicenza at around 10 p.m. One of them hit Baggio on the head with the butt of his rifle when the former football player confronted them.

The robbers locked 57-year-old Baggio and his family in a room and stole jewelry, watches and cash.

After the thieves left, Baggio broke down the door and called the police. He was taken to hospital and the wound was stitched. His family members were unharmed.

Baggio played 56 games for Italy and scored 27 goals.

Spain won the match by beating Italy 1-0.
