An air quality warning was issued for parts of the region today.

The air quality warning was issued for Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties.

It also applies to Butler and Warren counties in Ohio and Randolph, Union and Wayne counties in Indiana.

The air quality index (AQI) for today is estimated at 101. An AQI of 101 or higher is considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius with light winds and sunny skies.

According to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, these conditions are favorable for the formation of ground-level ozone.

The general public is not expected to be affected and most people can be active outdoors, but should take more breaks and engage in less strenuous activities.
